Jim Hawkins Costume

Happy Halloween from Treasure Planet! GoblinQueeen and I made a set of costumes from Treasure Planet this year. She was Morph and I was Jim Hawkins.

Most of this costume was just altered clothing that I already had. For example, the jacket was one that I had, which I made shorter and added false cuffs and collar, to make it look more like the cartoon. My friend made me the clasps out of clay and I affixed them with velcro.

The Boots were snow boots that I dressed up with false covers that I made out of some material I found at the fabric store to match the material the boots were made from already, and then I am still fixing the straps that are black in the picture, making covers to make them that orange leather color of the belt, which I also made.

It was fun stuff! I am still working on it, seeing as I discovered I could sew thru the thick boot fabric to sew on velcro and make it sturdy. I had been a little worried that the velcro wasn't sticking, but I hope to eliminate that fear.

The map is simply a styrofoam ball that I spray painted after carving out the map pattern.
